In his entire 17 years Blackburn career, the centre-back played 596 league games with 23 league goals. He also made 78 cup appearances.
Later on, the Blackburn legend became the club's coach in 1995, but was sacked by new manager Brian Kidd on 7th Dec 1998.

Captain Ronnie Clayton made 581 appearances in midfield, scoring 15 goals for the Rovers from 1951 to 1969.

The local lad played as Rovers full-back between 1896 to 1920, playing 530 games with 14 goals.
He also played 41 times for England, captaining them 22 times.
The captain helped the club to be crowned First Division champions in seasons 1911–12 and 1913–14.
He became Rovers manager in 2 spells (1926 to 1931 and 1938 to 1941), and led the club to a FA Cup win in 1928, and Second Division champions
in season 1938–39. Crompton died on 15 March 1941 in the match against Burnley, while he was still in charge of Blackburn.
